Well, I started off on this forum just to get some info on algae...but now I'm hooked! Everyone's tanks are so lovely, so I thought I'd start a little picture collection as I go. Please make comments, negative or positive that would be helpful!!
Thanks for all the help, too!
Lili

1. You can see my l'il polyps here...there are two together and then on the right there's a little cluster.
2. That's our new Devil's Hand, we just got it, so we're learning about it, and it's still a bit in shock, you can see it's still quite blue. I've been waiting for someone to tell me if it'll be ok with the stock lighting in the biocube 14 gal.
3. This is the gargonian we kind of saved. It looks much happier now :)
4. This is our feather duster we found had started living in theis empty clam shell. We liked it cause it's orange...hehe
5. This is the whole tank...it's coming along. We're thinking about trading in our damsels for a different type of fish...maybe a "Dorie" if a small one will be ok?? Any suggestions? Everyone has clown fish, so I don't really want to jump on that boat...
thanks for checking it out!

Oh we also have a peppermint shrimp, Pepper Brooks, but for some reason he got camera shy, but when I was cleaning the tank he actually came right over to my hand and was checking me out. And a porcelain crab who has tucked himself under our base rock a bit at the back, but sometimes we see Mr. Crabs' fans come out to catch stuff...

Looking good. Do not get a Blue Hippo Tang(Dori), they require a huge tank, think 6 feet long size tank. You could have a nice shrimp goby/pistol shrimp combo. That is very cool to watch. Make sure you are doing your research BEFORE buying, it will save you a lot of money besides potentially killing an animal.

Thanks Subie! That's why I'm asking questions and I have been googling too... Our devil's hand started to "wither" when we turned the white light off...is that normal or should we move it up closer to the lights?

lol, that silly damsel is pretty calm besides chasing the newER convict damsel...but they're alright now...it's so funny, as soon as I'd try to get a shot of anything, that fish would come right near where I was shooting..it's pretty neat how they all have little personalities :)

It's funny you say that because when both lights were on, my camera was being a pain in the butt and I was cursing it and getting quite angry, because it's a really expensive cam. But when just the blue came on, it worked like a charm!! Thanks :) If you can save it from here, go ahead!
Oh the shrimp was actually trying to clean that snail OR the hermit crab, couldn't quite tell...lol

Hey Lili, pretty good start so far, and youre right, its definitely an addiction. I like your gongorian.
My only suggestions is do you have enough flow in your tank? This helps corals and also keeps algae under control. Sometimes people also have a powerhead pointed towards the water surface that breaks the water and allows for gas exchange and also breaks the film on the water surface. It might be a good idea to add an extra powerhead if you hadnt planned already.
keep it up, best of luck

Thanks!! We're just waiting for the LFS to get in more Koralia nano thing a a jiggers....lol
We moved the devil's hand about a half inch to the side and in front of the stock powerhead so we'll see how it does there...I started another thread about it, but no one has answered it after I posted a pic last night....I'm not sure how it's doing today, because I'm at work, but hopefully it is ok :)

Sounds like you definitely could use some more water movement in the tank. Remove all the algae that you can from it, or any other coral in the future. Algae can kill a coral if it covers it.

How do I get it off without hurting the coral?? I have it sitting right at the power head so I don't get it...It's moving the water by it so fast....and it's just a 14 gal...so shouldn't that be enough with it sitting right there in front of it?
