So I put a skimmer on an online classifieds website for local sale. and this is the response I got.
Hello,
Thank you for the prompt response to my inquiry.I am very much
satisfied with the condition and price of the item and i will like to
make an outright purchase immediately,so i will advice that you
withdraw the ad from the web.
Pls i will like to know how you intend to proceed on this but i would
prefer that i issue a certified check in US dollars to your location
and upon the confirmation and clearance of payment my shipper will
come for the pick-up at your
location.I would really have loved to come for the viewing of the item
buti am not chanced but my movers will. If you are okay with this
please do get back to me with the following details so i can make out
the payment
IMMEDIATELY.
1: Your Full Name to be on the payment
2: Your Address and post code
3: Your mobile and land number.
I will expect your Mail ASAP.
Thanks .

That is pretty bad isn't it.

We posted the extra room in our house for rent on craglist, wow, worst idea ever...

The email box looked like a meeting from the UN will all the different people from different countries supposedly wanting to move in. About 97% were identical emails about how they'd pay the first month rent via certified check, their movers would, etc...

atleat it wasnt on here and yes you are correct in thinking that is considered a competer only because of the store sites that are on it.
Their is a fraud division of the FBI that falls under internet crimes you may want to forward that intire message to them.

STDREB,
Write back...
I am glad you are interested in the item and satisfied with the price, but I have so many ads placed, that I would like you to clarify to which item you are referring.
Specific name and brand
Then my prompt response with your requested info will be forwarded.

they respond back in the same generic type email of the funds will be transfered on such and such day please set up a pick up date and so on and so on but just another generic response on the what the item is. I think its not to incrimenat the party if it comes down to it they can say no it was a _______ item not what you are claiming it is. not sure but that was my experience with it and the response that I had gotten.
BTW mine was on a washer and dryer.
