Not sur eif you have already heard but many folks have gotten salmonella poisoning linked to Peter Pan and Great Value peanut butter. Without getting into the all the details, I thought I was ok since I bought the peanut butter months ago and have eaten much of it. I read this article and decided to check mine and I found I have the ones being recalled.

I'm sure Mr. Franklin would like the idea of Jiffy...since he liked to eat. hahaha.

Update: The FDA is now recommending that ALL Peter Pan and Great Value peanut butter purchased after May 2006 should be discarded.
Heard on CNN.

I sent the lid in anyway.

Who was I supposed to send the lid too?

I believe the lids should be sent to conagra foods. Just go to their website and it gives you all the info.
I had one of the "2111" jars myself. I don't normally buy Peter Pan, but it was $0.50 less than Jif, so I was being cheap for once. I learned my lesson. lol
We had just opened it and only had a little, so I threw it out to be on the safe side. Of course, as soon as I did that, I had the biggest craving for anything with peanut butter on it! Maybe I didn't learn my lesson.

My father ate 2 and a half jars of the Peter Pan peanut butter with that code on it within the past month. At least now we know why he has not been feeling all that great this past month.

I think you might be able to take the peanut butter back to the store you purchased it from. I guess that's why choosy kids choose Jiff .... so they don't get salmonella poisoning!
