Checklist

Does anyone have a checklist of parts that are essential for a DIY mini reef/refugium set up ?
I have a 55 I am going to get drilled. I was thinking 2 x 1.25" holes. The refugium is going to be an old 30 gal I have sitting around.
So, as far a s a checklist, I need something that explains from the drain holes to the return. I am only going by pictures now so obviously I need PVC piping and some plexiglass for an over flow and baffles and such but are there things that pictures won't show that I may be missing ? Valves, etc ??
Pointing me to a web page would work too.
Thanks.

Youll need 1" pvc pipe most overflows for dilled tanks are made in 1". Gives you more volume. 1" pvc 90 degree elbows grab 6 you can always take back what you dont use. 2- 1" pvc ball valves ,and get 2 pvc 45 degree elbows you never know if youll need an offset. Also youll need a pump like a mag7 or something equal in pushing power doesnt matter on brand.
The mag 7 has a 1/2 inch male pipe end to connect so youll need a 1/2 inch pvc female pie adapter and a 1" X 1/2" pvc reducing coupling to convert to the pipe. purple primer and heavy duty pvc glue (tan lable) and your all set on piping side.
You'll need to divide your 30 gallon sump/fuge into 4 chambers one for your incomming water to fall into and to set your skimmer if youd like one for water to divert and settle to spill into refugium, your refugium and finally your return chamber. its a rather nice setup and works extreamly well. ill give ya some pics and such.
I use glass for my dividers it works easy and easy to get cut at the hardwear store, and marine silicone to seal the glass in place.

the first divider gose from the of of the tank to about 2 inches off the bottom of the tank this forces the water down into the next chamber without letting the crud in as it floats on the top ,and alows the protien skimmer to work i made the first divider 6 1/4" off the side wall. the next divider gose from bottom of the tank and is 8 1/2" high, its about a 3 inch gap between dividers. the water then spills over into the refugium which i made 14" across to the next divider which is 8" high off the bottom. you can ajust yours since it is a 30 gallon you may want your dividers a bit taller or spaces farther apart ect.

I made this sump/refuge the same but the tank is predrilled like yours , the above is set up for a cpr overflow . I like the predrilled better. this shows the ball valves on both lines.
