CHEMI-PURE

I was just wondering if anyone here uses chem-pure in their tanks. I use it 24/7, and I really can't imagine what I would do without it! does anybody else like this stuff as much as me??

I used it 24/7 like you for about 2 years, no complaints. About 6 months ago I switched to black diamond and havent seen a difference, and its way cheaper ;)

"Chemically treated ions". If you chemically treat an ion, doesn't it become no longer an ion. I was at a health food store once and saw "high oxygen water, with an extra oxygen atom attached to each water molecule". So doesn't that make it H2O2 (hydrogen peroxide). Hmmm.

I used chemi, Boyd's product in the past, and it seemed to work well. I'm using it again during my 45 startup.
I'm abit worried about what exactly is going on, ie. is this an ion exchange media (one of them) reputed to hurt some clavulae, or Xenia possibly, and similar corals?).
It does remove yellow from the water, forgot the term.

yup chemi pure is a carbon mix. black diamond is a good brand of carbon and cheaper. But I use none. maybe once a year or less. Ime I don't need it with my huge skimmer and alga tank= I save $$ by not using it. By investing in a better skimmer

I'm wondering if one of these activated carbons would be wise to use during my initial cycle. I've mentioned in another thread that I've got this great LR that has so much life and so many hitchhikers that I don't want my spike to be too drastic.
The rock went into the tank Tues PM, so I'm headed into day 3. So far I just have a Mini-Jet at one end and an old Whisper waterfall-type filter at the other end with an empty fiber filter (no carbon) in the unit and another fiber filter around the intake tube, which is clearing up the sediment from the sand bed. I have a Bakpak skimmer and another powerhead arriving tomorrow.
