personaly i dont dose anything i cant test for. if you have a good salt to begin with like reef crystals then i doubt you will have to add anything except for maybe alk plus but dont add it unless you can test for it so you can make shure your not overdosing

LOL...sounds like you bought your tank at fishy business..

Are you planning to keep a reeftank or just fish?

You need a two part A & B additive such as ESV B-Ionic. It is used in equal parts for the most part. Always test & do not dose what you do not or cannot test for. Iodine is easy to overdose, and test kits for it are innacurate.

It is Calcium & Alkalinity additives. The alk has other trace elements.
The b-ionic is called :E.S.V. B-Ionic 2-Part Calcium Buffer
The Ocean's Blend is called:Calcium part1 & Alkalinity part 2
Magnesium is also part of the equation , this also should be tested and dosed seperately if needed.
There are other methods such as dripping kalkwasser, calcium reactors, and making your own from Dowflake..etc
You can google Randy Holmes Farley for some lengthy indepth understanding.

I wouldn't..
I would get some good stuff like DKH builder, two part additive, turbo calcium by Kent with some Magnesium suplement. That's all i use on occasions.and keep up with the regular water changes..

Kent Marine Liquid Reactor?
ahhh there are so many products.

now i just have mushrooms, zoos, frogspawn, and some ployps. I want too add xenia... and a colt coral and... some other thing probably... but there are so many things to choose from and I already have a lot. I just need an experience reef keeper to tell me exactly what to get for healthy coral growth.
I have API test kits: am, trite, trate, copper, cal, ph
a refractometer
and a sailfert kh test kit.
so if someone could help me out I would be...
happy!
