I thought I was the only cheapskate that dipped grizzly. Once skoal got up to six dollars a can (went through a can in a day or two) I switched to $2.50 grizzly straight long cut and really liked it. Although the massive bag of sunflower seeds I bought was only around two bucks. I found half a log of grizzly in my fridge earlier, just about cried when my girlfriend dumped it all out, but she reminded me that i have these "delicious" sunflower seeds to replace the enjoyment that was in those cans

Good luck man! I dipped Skoal and Copenhagen for 25 years before I finally quit. I tried many time over the last 5 years I dipped and it was murder. I would throw a can away swearing it was my last to go digging in the garbage for it an hour later to scrape out what little bit was left in it. I finally went cold turkey and quit in February of 2001. I have not had a dip in over 6 nows. I will tell you the triggers are still there even today. I can do something that I used to associate with dipping and I instantly want a dip. It's no big deal at all now though but it does still trigger.
You can do it, but it is not easy and it takes about 5 days of going insane for the physical cravings to cease. The mental cravings take a lot longer!
Good luck my friend!

Don't expect "dip" with the all mint snuff. If you have ever dipped Hawken, that is what you can expect. The snuff isn't to replace the dip, its so you have the feeling that you are dipping, it help trust me.

Best of Luck man.
I dipped kodiak back in HS and college , then on to cigs when I drove an oilfield truck, I tried to quit smoking by goin back to dip and of course then had to break that habit again.
Sunflower seeds and nicorrete gum, and boy howdy those 1st weeks were tough, sore mouth from seeds, pissy attitude from the gum that taste like the south end of a northbound cat.
But prayer, perserverence and plain ole stubborn pride that I was not going to be addicted to anything got me through.
YOU hang in there, and I'll PRAY.

Well it has been three days without a dip, it's still pretty miserable but not as bad as yesterday. The worst part now is that I am having trouble sleeping, think because I always took a dip before going to sleep. The real test is this weekend, some buddies and I are goin offshore for tuna. I don't think I've ever gone fishing without a dip and every other guy going dips like a champ and I know their gonna rag on me, but I'll take a little raggin for a big ole tuna anyday.

Good luck on your fishing trip. Tell us how you did when you get back. Quitting is day by day, hour by hour and sometimes minute by minute.

For me the worst days after quitting were the 2nd day, and about the 14th day. Also anytime I did things like fish, drove long distances.

My girlfriend and I broke up a couple months later and a few months after that I began dipping again. I am trying to quit dipping again, as advised by my dentist. I bought nicorette gum and the non tobacco-dip but the urge is still there. In my office, I pretty much go nuts while researching cases because I do not have a chaw. If any of ya'll have ever quit chewing baccer and have a way to get past the urge, I would really appreciate it.
Thank you much,
