Childhood Fashion Faux-Pas

During a conversation with a friend today I remembered when I was a kid my parents used to make me wear husky pants from Sears that weren't long enough, "high waters". And when I was 8 I carried around a briefcase for school instead of a bookbag. And I had the "flat-top" hair cut.
Were you a childhood "fashion" victim?

I wore a dingy grey houston Aeros (hockey) t-shirt, green sweatpants that were too small, hair slicked back, long white socks, and NASTY play shoes for one of my elementary school pictures, mabye 4th grade.
I still look at the picture and laugh every time i see it........I now understand why none of the girls ever liked me!!!

As a young child I had uncontrollable curly hair that was never neat. It didn't help that I was always climbing, fighting, playing and doing other boy activities that would leave me messy. Pretty much all my school pics from the 1st to 4th grade are a train wreck. No wonder my parents never kept any of them.

This explains a lot of your social issues .

I had two, I had a sweet bowl cut for most of my youth. I just didn't like having to 'do my hair.' I always thought that was sooo girly. Just needed to quicky brush my hair straight every morning. The other was that I was so tall, but so skinny, either all of my shirts/pants were either so baggy or too short.

I sported a spike hairdo in the late 80s when I was a kid. It was so stiff it could have drawn blood.....

i was my mom, bless her has no fashion sense. she cut my hair were it was really long in the back and my bangs started from the top middle of my head
. and she always had me in stripes usually pink top and polka dots usually purple bottoms. with gold shoes, or jellies.

you are in your early thirties or very late 20's i suspect ...we also must have had the same mom -i had the pink & purple clothes and jellies. i too had the same haircut, my hair was blackish and i was reaallly pasty white - almost bluish so i got made fun of alot when i was in elementary school

lol, I dont' know if it was my moms fault or mine. But yeah flat top home made shorts and destroyed t-shirts. With some rediculous high tops. Or baseball cleats.
