Chiller issue

I will be getting a chiller in a couple of months and want to know how many degrees is safe to drop the temperature per day without negatively affecting the fish with the temperature change? I need to drop the temperature by approximately 5 degrees, if not more.
Any ideas?

Just added one---best move I ever made.
Temp never moves more then a degree now.
2-3 degrees per 24 hours seems reasonable--we usually have a 5-6 degree spread on temps anyway---you,of course, just don't want it to drop suddenly.
What chiller are you going to use?

If everything is alive with the temperature the tank is when you hook up the machine, there is no particular reason to be in a rush. You could do 1 degree per day. 2-3 would be the max I'd go, but again, I see no point to why one would need to drop it so fast.
