Good day everyone,
just wondering? how important is it to have a chiller for a 150g reef tank set up i get the idea behind it on stabilizing the tempter, but does everyone have one and just really how much difference would it make.
Thanks,
Timsta

Depends on the climate of the room your tank is in. If you tank reaches up in the 85 range you may consider it. Most people have heaters, because temps are commonly from 70-75 and a lot of people like to keep their water around 78ish. Also, temps drop at night, and a heater will maintain the temp.
Advice, monitor your temps throughout the day and see how high it goes before spending $800+ on a chiller.

Yes hold off till you know if you indeed need it or not, Unless ofcourse you have 800 bucks laying around !

a clip on fan does a lot to drop your temp a few degrees also. i would wait until you see how its running. I have a 150 with mh, and a fan on keeps it stable

Just watch your temps. I live in So Cal and have probably simalar temps, maybe colder. I haven't yet had to use a chiller, but My AC works pretty well here.
