as I did,Hope everyone had a wonderful holiday! My ? today is this,we have a choc chip starfish and everywhere I read (be it books or here on line),it says they are bottom dwellers (mostly). My star is never, never on the bottom in the sand.Even when we had cc,(yuk!) It will be three weeks come sunday that we have hand the live sand in. He is a hearty eater and he pretty much stays up top...unless my naso gives him a jolt to let him know who's boss, then he crawls right back up.We have no lr or coral so im wondering if thats why. All tests are pretty much normal except a small spike in nitrate and nitrite from adding ls. thanx alot for all your help!:happyfish

that's normal, mine stays on the glass more than the bottom. it makes it easier to spot feed it. i try to keep it well fed so it dosen't get into my corals.

I have a small choc chip too...He hardly ever goes on the sand. Always on the glass. I think he knows to come to the top..cuz I always give him yummies when he bends his legs over at the front of the tank. I never give him anything if he is at the side or back. I think he is learning where to come if he is hungery! He knows mommie will feed him! LOL

Mine likes the top of the glass with one arm parallel to the surface basking in the air ! He does climb over the LR at times.

I've had a CC starfish for over 2 years now in my FO and have never fed him. When I first got him he hung out at the top of the tank, but now spends most of his time on the sand or rocks. I am missing a peppermint shrimp, and I suspect he snuck up on him a had a nice feast.
