Chocolate chip starfish getting sick?

I purchased a CC starfish about 2 wks ago and on the fist day he moved up and down the tank wall, now he just stays in one place, I think he is eating the cut up shrimp that I put on one of his arms cause the suction cups grab on to it, but I have never actually seen it go to the center of the star. He is still stuck to the glass so I would think he is still alive, but there is no movement. Please help don't want to loose him...
:help:
Thanks for any info on the subject:

I don't think he's dying. Ours will stay in place for a long time sometimes. Unless it looks like he is shrivling up or losing an arm, I am sure he is fine.

they are basically scavengers.....ours is fed a small piece of shrimp about 2 times a week when he comes to the top. They will eat off LR or even a dead fish. When they are on the glass you can see their "stomach" come out. As long as he "looks" normal, he should be OK.

When I first set up my tank, I had one and didn't know what they ate (thanks to the lfs). But he died, and I knew it when he started decinigrating (sp?). His suction cups were the first to show signs, then he got a chunk missing in one leg. At that time he was still moving around, but he was falling apart pretty quickly. So if yours don't have strings coming off, I wouldn't worry.

I think your star is just stressed out. What are your tank parameters? Are you using any medication like copper sulfate....or what not?

Last night He had like stringy stuff hanging on him, But his suction cups are still moving and and he is still stuck to the glass. If he is dieing what should I do remove him or just hope and keep trying to feed him....

I checked them all and they were all good can't remember exact numbers off the top of my head. but I did check the salinaty, Amonia, Nitrate and Nitrite plus PH, is there something else that I should be checking besides those? Plus don't you think the hermits and emerald crabs would be effected too if there was something wrong with the parameters of my water?
Plus the fish are all Healthy (knock on wood) and eating good.

Well my wife just called me to say that the starfish is on the bottom upside down ( belly up ). So I have a feeling that he is dead
I will have to see when I get home, Its a sad day when a sea creature has gone to that big swimming ocean in the sky........
