If you've had one for quite a while, what have you been feeding him??
I feed mike either thawed krill or cockle. Mine spends a majority of the time at the top of the tank with one or two arms reaching backwards at the surface. He really gets excited and starts to move his little suction cups when he smells the flake food I feed my clowns. At that point, I usually hand feed him.

Mine spends alot of time at the top too with his arms out and does go crazy when smells flake food...Will he eat the flake food? What about raw shrimp? Do you think he will eat that? How do i feed him?

Krill is basically a small shrimp. You can buy it frozen at most LFS. Just thaw it out and give him a piece or two. I usually kind of tease him by putting it near one of his outstretched arms. He'll move towards it and grab it with a few tentacles.
Mine gets more active about eating when the flake food is added, but I haven't seen him actually eat any of it yet.
My LFS said they fed their cholocate chips twice a week, but mine eats almost daily. He's a hungry little

Flake food would be quite inefficient and wasteful. As others have mentioned, give him something meatier like krill, shrimp, squid, fish, clam, or shrimp pellets.
hartkarl, if an LFS sold you both for the same tank, I suggest finding a new store! They are definitely not reef safe stars.

I have a choc cjip in my tank and was wondering if anyone knew if he would eat any small hermits if i got some?

It is a potential risk. They are a threat to any slow or sessile thing like snails, corals, clams, etc...hermits aren't the fastest critters out there. So it is a risk. But then it may never have any interest in them either!

So far my chocolate chip hasn't shown interest in either my hermits or snails, but I feed the little bugger almost daily. I think the constant feeding keeps him from checking out all the smaller/slower inverts.
