Hi.
well the tank is 100% on track now p.h issue is now fixed (was the salt i was using that dropped the p.h)
I'm now using reef crystals and swear by them lol
the tank has been up and running over a month now and all i got in my massive tank is a tiny yellow tail damsel.
i dont want anything that grows large or is very aggressive.
but me and the wife are off to the fish shop later to check out what they havein store.
we hopping clown fish as we had them 2 years ago and was a great asset to the tank.
but if theres none we are stuck we cant seem to agree on any fish for the tank.
anyone have any good recomendations for a small fish we dont want anything growing bigger then 15cm.
also tank size is 49.9 inch L 16.9inch W 2ft tall.
we have a few good bits of LR but not much due to size of tank
cheers for any opinions.
we also like crustations too but we want invert's safe.

damsel might get a little aggressive toward new tank mates but its a yellow tale so not sure...just be carefull.....sixline wrasse would be great...or some type of shrimp goby but goby likes lots of liverock and caves so they can hide in.....do u have a clean up crew yet...maybe u should add that first..

Hi.
well all i had untill today was the yellow tail as i like to take time buying fish.
at the minute im acclim. the new fish (tomato clowns as i just got back from store)
so thats gonna take about an hour+ so the poor fellas can't oin the tank as of yet.
but i was going to buy a cleaner wrassy as i think they have the best personallity of any fish alive.
but the lfs had none.
next week im hoping to add a cleaner shrimp and a boxing shrimp but before i do are these compatible with each other and is the boxing shrimp reef safe?
as i herd cleaner is reef safe.

well i just added the tomato x 2 and well not good....
the yellow tail pinned both in the corner and was bashing them lucky for me i took precausions net was ready bucket was ready bag was ready for just in case.
well like i said he was going skitso i thought ill leave it a minute then he stopped and was eyeing them and watchin them then he was backing off i was like huh whats going on then his rear tail shook like a well ill say a toy for adults only.... some will get the joke..
but it whent mad and darted at them i grabbed my net whilst the clowns looked at him adn dint even flinch.
cos he was going so fast it was easy to net him he flew stright into the net lmao.
it was a quick scoop swoop nd in bag.
my wifes a little upset as shes gotten used to the fella but if we wanted one fish we would of used a tiny tank not a 4ft tank lol
but the clowns look happy but whilst i was accliming them i noticed one dint look too good maybe this might just be a tad bit of stress and travel sickness (i hope but i will keep a close eye on him)
but as i was buying the clowns today i did ask the lfs if i could bring in the damsel as i did buy it there.
judt in case he was like i thought he might e i was also informed by the lfs that the damsel was a peacfull fish so if i dont get my money back ill check on the uk law system on fasle information on a product/pet...
it's only £6 aaka $12 but it meens i can get something else in retern.
lets hope it works out....

are six bars compatable with reef and cleaner wrasse?
as im starting to like the sixbar the more i look at it.
also is it safe to add the sixbar at the early stages of tank? ie just over a month.

If you mean a 6 line wrasse I am being advised to add him last to my 29 gallon as he can be aggressive.

Yeah, sixlines can be brutal to incoming tank inhabitants.
Also, cleaner wrasses don't do well in captivity at all. probably 90% or more die.

im glad u got rid of the yellow tail and whoever told u they were peacefull is crazy...especially when they are the only fish and then u add more they always go nuts. as for other peacefull small fish check out a clown goby or some type of blenny (LMB: Lawn Mower Blenny is my favourite). cleaner shrimp are a great addition and my even get on ur fingers when ur hands r in the tank, boxing shrimp have been known to eat a fish here and there so use caution.

ah thanks for the heads up on the sixbar cleaner and the boxing shrimp..
well i took the fish into the store and they gave me a credit note of price of the fish and said sorry aobut the situation.
the clowns look very happy in the tank at the min they never go more the 5 inch in distance from each other wich is cute lol.
i really do want a cleaner wrasse tho as i do think they are so great.
i do make sure my water is upto date by doing a max of 20% water change per day sumtimes its 10% but never lower.
also i do clean the tank unless its pink and purple but is brown good or bad for the tank?
i did see a cleaner shrimp today in lfs but i was to busy today to acclime it to tank so i thought i would also two new fish would need to settle awell.
but the lfs got a few dead guppys and chopped them and was feeding the shrimp the bodys does anyone else do this or is that a lfs thing again?
i'm thinking of getting a blenny soon but i want the tank to be 3 month old before i add one.
i've seen one or 2 i like.
i'm just trying to find a nice peacfull goby for my next "fish" like a fire tail red or purple i wont mind lol but i did enjoy having 2 yellowhead jaw fish 2 years ago they were funny buggers...
also last question.
on my tomato's does the blackness leave them as they mature and go bright orange?
as i've seen lots of pics and seen pic on here with them as just orange ofc with the stripe too lol..
