How many types fo clams are there?
How big do certain clams get?
Where should they be placed in the tank?
How often should they be fed, if have to?
How many per tank?

1. No one really knows. There are certain ones that are expected to be in the hobby but never seen.
2. Couldn't tell you because it is like asking how big a certain dog from a certain country will get. I have seen squamosas at 14 inches and others stop growing at 8 inches.
3. They will use their foot to push themselves where they want to be in a tank.
4. I believe it to be a good thing for them to be fed.
5. Not so many that they will fight for "park bench" rights and shade eachothers mantles when fully grown.

How many types fo clams are there? a lot
How big do certain clams get? depends on the species
Where should they be placed in the tank? again depends
How often should they be fed, if have to? depends on ur bioload
How many per tank?[/QUOTE] again depends on what kind of clam
b4 u get a clam, make sure u hv the right light and water parameters. in addition, what ever u hv in ur tank now, make sure they wont bother the clam.

Well thank you guys for the info. Im trying to get more details into clams. I guess i might have to get a book like florida joe said.
Maybe if I tell you some info it will help.
Lighting---4 watts per gallon. MHs, CPs, and Super actinic
Bioload will be enough for sure when all the fissh are in.
The tank is 8 ft long by 30 inches wide so space will not be an issue.
The substrate is crushed coral.

I would really like the clam to be on a rock, so some clams will be eliminated from my choices Im assuming. The only fish that might pick on it is a powder blue tang or a sixline wrasse.

That would be cool if you just stuck it where you want it, sitting on some rock and it just sat there and never moved. Takes some pics and post how that turns out.
