Hey I'm a tree hugging birkenstocks in the dead of winter hippie and I hunt. Does that make me a hipocrit or am I'm just confused about who I am?
Think about this, the Indian's were the original hippies and they all hunted...

Nice! How are you planning on cooking it? My friends and i do at least 2 pigs a year on a spit over an open wood fire.
And yes, you can eat the eyes if you really want to. My friends 10 year old daughter likes em!!

You're kidding right? Please tell me you're kidding. Man I love all kinds of tasty meat but eyeballs are where I would draw the line.
A buddy of mine bet me $50 I wuoldn't eat the eye ball out of a deer I killed this year. (don't ask, we had watched man vs wild the night before) Needless to say I'm still trying to get a $50

Oh no, I'm not kidding at all! This girl would stand there near the fire and say "Oh piggy, you look so delicious" while waiting for one of us to carve off a piece of skin or meat for her to eat while waiting for the whole pig to be done.

I know you are serious, but I think there's enough meat there that I could easily pass on the eyeballs...

There isn't much of a pig i haven't eaten and an eyeball is one of them...
But I want to see pictures of how you cooked it.

You really can't dig, you'll just hit water, so you sort of have to build the pit up with cinder blocks. Line with alum. foil and adds lots of charcoal.

Roasting a big pig is a tasty thing to do...
Yes it is. There are always some people that cant bring themselves to eat it though...of course, they dont have a problem eating pork from the grocery store.

What a traditional. I think the air in Miami, every Christmas eve, fulls just a bit with a hint of roast pig, it's that popular. My roommate's family does it every year too. Absolutely scrumptious.

Yup,very popular in South Florida...especially in Miami.

I will post actual pics on Sunday.
We always dug a small pit, ( I never did the actual cooking.) I had a friend in college who raised super hogs they were almost a ton. And he sold them to hunting ranches. Anyway he'd get piglet or whatever they are called. And we'd dig a big pit, he'd season it with his "secret family recipie) And cook it. It was good stuff.

We raise our own hogs and there's nothing like slaughtering a fresh pig and putting it into a ground pit with lots of charcoal.
Speaking of which about that time again. Got two pigs over 700lbs.....

I guess we must be lazy around here, we all have pig cookers (the big grills on wheels) and use gas...
