There is alot to them, But I got mine for $35 and it is the size of a softball. The redish/pink that is covering the rock is the porites, a living orginism! Then it has the Worms living in side of it.... Multi colored as you can see from my pix! They are a great coral, and add life and alot of color to your tank!!!! If I had more room in my tank I would purchase more of them!!! I love them! I have only had mine since... Jan. 17, so basicly a month.. So I am not an expert... but I like it!! Every thing I have read said that it will not usually get more worms in it after you get it... but mine has gotten one.... and looks to be getting another!!! The Christmas tree worms get about 1" big, mine are around 1/4 in. , my biggest one is 1/2 in. and he is orange!! So many colors!!!

They filter feed, both the Porites and the worms them self, but the proites likes mod-high lights, and the worms them selves like mod-low lighting..... Kinda confusing....

The Xmas Tree Worm Rock has a red, orange, yellow, green, blue, purple, black, white, cream and variations color for the worms its self!!!

thats because they dont have a good long term survival rate. The worms dont usually survive long term and more times than not the coral itself follows shortly after. Since they arent really cheap to begin with they are often on the "corals to avoid" list.

yours look great and like always there are exceptions to the rule, dont let me rain on your parade. My coral book says the worms die first so James Fatherree the author got it wrong.
