Christmas tree worm rock

Has anyone here ever kept a Christmas tree worm rock? I have seen a few at my lfs and they are beautiful. I have a 55 gallon tank with compact flourescent lighting 110W daytime and 110W actinic coralife lighting. I would like to know if it would be possible for me to have one of these beauties. I do not want to buy something I would regret as I did with 2 brain corals I was told would be fine in my tank with my lighting. Any information is apprecaited.

Is the rock covered with Porites? Most of the ones I see also have porites growing on the rock. If so, I don't believe you have the adequate lighting to maintain the porites. The worms themselves are filter feeders.

No and they are extremely difficult to keep alive longterm, most people kill the coral or the worms starve to death, very hard to feed them enough.

I have had one for a year and I think it is by luck. Not many worms but porites is still growing. Porites need high light, varying flow. And the worms needs lots of micro food.
