Chromis color change

about a month ago I purchased 3 blue/green chromis and they are super active and eat as much as I put in the tank but one of them is turning a dark blue? The other 2 are the same color as when I got them.... He has no white spots or anything on him he is just turning a dark blue on his face and all his fins... do I need to pull him out? or is that normal? I did several searches and came up with nothing....

cant really get a good picture of him... iphone and he moves a lot lol... 2 are a light blue / teal color and they are the larger of the 3 chromis the smallest is the one that is turning dark blue/ almost purple on his face and all his fins.....

That's odd. If it's acting normal/eating/etc I wouldn't be too worried about it. It might even be that one is turning male. Hypermelanization isn't uncommon with damselfish, especially with clowns, so it's possible that this is all that's occurring here as well. Higher salinity levels can effect hypermelanization as well.

Turning male? Would the male be the smaller of the 3? because 2 of them are noticably larger then the smaller one that is getting darker.... He eats great, very active but he does like to stay toward the back wall of my tank and swims through the rock work more then the other 2.... The larger 2 are usually right at the front glass... The only times that all 3 are together is when im feeding them.... other than that the smaller one goes back about his business in the rock work and back wall.... I dont know how normal that is but he has been that way for as long as I have had them I think..... there may have been a few times he comes out and swims with the others but its not often....
