to get a solid answer we need to know how big your tank is and what you already have in there. I was told you always want a odd number though. I have 7 in my 55 gallon

if thats all you wanted you could handle 5. It depends on how much (if any) LR you have and if your tank can handle a bioload of 5 fish.

Chromis are damsels. If fed properly they grow quickly and get big. 5 Chromis in a 29 gallon will cause havoc on your biofiltration.
I would suggest looking at a pair of Firefish or couple of Cardinalfish.
