thanks for your reply. what i meant by "protien skim'" is that dirty water in the collection cup of the protein skimmer. i thought using like 1ml of dirty water to spot feed the clam might help.

no, that wont help. why would you add something to your tank that your trying to get rid of in the first place?

bc it's green. JK. I read something about Clams open up fully to eat when you scrape the glass, so i thought that in a protein skimmer's collection cup might have the same algae in it.
thanks for your advice.

Never put any skimmate from your skimmer back into your system!
Your clam will actually filter out nitrogenous wastes from your tank before the bacteria can break it down. And yes when you scrape/clean your glass the organics are then suspended in the water making more particulate food for your clam to feed on. As far as I know you never spot or force feed a clam. Just let it filter your water and photosynthesize (sp) and it will be fine.

its a maxima. either way it will be fine till sunday. you can use phytoplex to feed it, just make sure you feed the whole tank, dont spray it directly into the clams siphon. and dont over feed the phyto or it will pollute youre tank.

should i move it closer to the lights? some have told me Maxima will do ok under my lights and some told me to stick only with T-deresa or Squamosa. I just hate losing stuff because of my lack of knowledge.

you should really research this before buying. i can tell you didnt or if you did, not nearly nough. not flaming, just criticizing.
anyway, i would try moving him up. mines about the same size as yours, a maxima and hes on the bottom. i had him on the sand, but he moved and attached himself to a rock. try moving him up and see if he attaches to the rock.
most importantly, dont move him to much. once you put him somewhere, leave him. the worst thing you can do is move them. if he falls behind the rockwork or something, then by all means, pick him up.

I never feed my clam anything and he is doing really well. I've had him for 6 months or so. He is a sand loving clam, though. Not the rock dweller.....

i dont feed my clams either, but its suggested so i dont tell people otherwise. especially if they dont have strong lighting.
