Wandering MAXIMA?
You know IFIRE, those need very high light, I would put him up top again unless you have a high cone of halide light funelling directly onto him. Something probably knocked him over. MY HERMIES have knocked over my clam before, it pisses me off so much! They get under it nad push it off!

Ive had him for a month or 2 ...I do have him under 175 MH ...he was about 18 inches from the bulb...not the surface. Hes doing good and I see new growth on the shell. On my reciept they called it a croecea. I will put him up there again unless you think 18 inches is to close.

Im not sure if its a ULTRA BLUE MAXIMA or a ELECTRIC CROCEA CLAM? EITHER way the both require intense lighting! The Croceas are a shallow water species so I think the closer the better! IMO

Yep, looks like a crocea to me. They do well high up in the rockwork. I would put it on a flat rock in the sand until he attaches, then move it up higher. It would be harder to knock over if its got its foot attached.

can you glue the clam to a piece of rock then place rock where you want it. Thinking of doing this to mine

the corcea's love light so put them high in the rockwork adn let it attach itself to the rock. It takes a few hours or maybe a day. After that they are hard to move.
