I put stuff under him and he just moved back to the sand. lol He is still thriving and has even grown a little bit, so... I don't know... He is happy... I just leave him now.
Beautiful clams though! I want to have a bunch like that someday too! but I have to let my tank mature a bit more.

They will use the sand under them as a temporary housing if they keep getting messed with or just came from transportation. Also, the brown color usually stems from the zooxanthellae returning to it's primary pigmentation until it "augments" to the light.
Then look at the back of your phyto and marine snow bottle and compare that nutrient ratings, to about 45% protein and 15% fat - there are no decimals in the numbers I listed.
