Clams, in general, require about 5-8 watts per gallon of proper MH lighting.

Watts per gallon isn't the best way to be looking at this. How deep is your tank and what is your lighting set up? What type of clam do you plan on keeping? Where do you plan on placing the clam in the tank? I personally prefer MH for clams because of superior light penetration, but I've seen people do well with clams under T5's. If you want a suggestion I would start with a low light clam like a deresa. They are about the easist to keep.
