How big is your clam??? I understand, If the are large enough and with enough light, they can produce their own food. I've read if they are over 3.5" and have proper lighting, you wouldn't have to feed them.

feeding isn't suppose to be required after the 3" mark. Mine is about 3" and I dont feed it. only have had it (crocea) two months though.

Hi
I have my clams under 2-400wt 14 mh .Ive had them for 2 years. I do dose phyto once a week but not much. you just need a lot of light. When i first got them i feed them with phyto by putting a clear tub over the . then i found out with the right light u dont have to I mite be wrong . but this has been working for me.
Keep your cal around 400 to 450 ppm .

some people feel that under 3", they should still be fed. i have a maxima that was about 2" when i got him, never fed him directly, and hes a good 3 1/2" now.
what type of clam is it?

i would really love to reply to this post, but its my understanding that this forum doesnt allow off-site links. i have links to articles and papers that will clear up this question but im not going to copy and paste parts of these articles when i feel it would be better for anyone interested in this topic to be able to read these papers in there entirety and come to there own conclusion.
could a moderator please let me know (above board) if this would be allowed, and to what extent?
