Clams - 12 Gallon Nano

I have a 12 gallon nano, and haven't changed the type of lights it came with - the sunpac ones, two white light, two actinic (all four different wavelengths).
If I got a clam and placed it about 3/4 of the way up in the tank, would there be enough light for it?

I wouldn't really know but i have a clam in my 12 for 4 months and everything is fine. He also is pretty close to the top.

might want to put it near the top. They demand lot of light. What type of clam is it?

i would say not to do it. it may 6-8 months, but PC's dont have enough par to keep the clam alive for extended periods of time. if it is a small clam under 3 inches you might be ok, because they do not solely rely on light, they need to be sspot fed. even a small one will need to be placed up as high as you can get it.

Not just the light but the fact that most clams will outgrow your system. Do you have any clams in mind or just wanted a clam in general?

It's really a hit or miss, but I have had mine in my 12 gallon stock jbj nano for about 4 months and it was doing just fine, until I went out of town and the thing died because my lights werent on for like a week. I would just add some kent calcium and phytoplankton and you should be good.
