Classic horror movies

Maybe it was just a local thing.....but years ago we had a guy that did the scary B movie thing. His name was Dr. Paul Bearer. Classic stuff. Corny as heck was the appeal.
As far as movies. I was in 4th grade and my family went to see Mary, Queen of Scots at the Navy base theatre and instead they showed The Birds.
I nearly crapped my pants I was so scared.

Cause all the good horror these days are foreign films especially asian pyschological horror. Notice how hollywood runs out of ideas and screws up the re-makes of them.

Too true . Now the horror movies are nothing but blood and guts interjected with nekedness and copulation scenes .
I just have to give the old shows more credit in the fact that there was very little if any blood involved. The acting was far superior in the fact that it was ACTING and not just running and screaming and dodging edged weapons .

When i was a kid we had "creature feature's" just the start of the show was as scary as the movie!!! It showed a coffin opening real slow in low light with a smoky back ground , then it showed Frankenstein walking down the stairs of a dungeon and the wolf man peeking around a tree in a grave yard.....cool stuff. Then they would show a old B&W movie. That was the BEST!! the music went....... Dun dun...dundunn.......Dun dun da dun dun dun da dun

You gotta see the original ... completely different from Carpenter's and just as scarey.

How about the original "The Thing" with James Arness as the creature.

The original was called The Thing from another world... It was made in 1951 . It started off my whole Halloween classic spooky movie marathon the night before last .

Speaking of the sat afternoon features...I remember some Japanese spooky movies as well.
One of them was about people that were turning into big mushrooms....anybody remember that?
