Is it poss. to have a clean up crew that is to big? I have eight blue leg, one pep. shrimp, one cleaner shrimp, five small snails not sure what they are called and two big snails.
If you have these in your 29 I'd say your o.k. I've seen people with more than that in a 29. I have a 37 with 12 snails, 3 hermits, 3 cleaner shrimp, and I still have to clean the glass ounce a week. Also your bound to loose some of them overtime. The only thing I see that may become a problem is the lobster. They can get fairly large, and knock things over.
joebuckmaster,
All of the members of your clean-up crew are scavengers. The answer to "how many is too many" is a matter of "does your tank have enough food for them so they don't starve"?
I was having an algea problem in my tank and read that I should have one snail per gallon and 1/2 hermit crab per gallon. I added that many and....no more algea problem.

yeah i agree. Make sure that when you add your crew that you have to anticipate that they will infact have your tank looking great. If you run out of food for them in there you may lose some. Just put algee pellets in the bottom and make sure that the pellet is low in phosphates.
My cleanup crew scavenges left over food from the feedings. All can be quiet in the tank, drop in a little fish food and watch the flurry of activity. They don't seem to go hungry.
