My tanks seems to have finished cycling and I am now ready for a CUC. The thing i'm not sure of is what and how many to put in. I plan on going to the LFS morning so any help would be appreicated.
Considering the following.
Scarlet Hermit Crab:
Blueleg Hermit Crab:
Turbo/Astrea Snail:
Nasssarius Snail:
Emerald Crab:
Coral Banded Shrimp:
Lettuce Nudibranch:
Also can I put a couple of Clarkii in at this time or wait a week?
BTW - It's an 80gallon Hex

I would rethink the cuc personally. If they die they can release toxins into your tank and wipe out all your inhabitants. I would add all of your cleanup crew and then wait for another week or so. The key is patience. As far as numbers of cleanup crew what size is your tank?

I think cuc means clean up crew not cucumber

Unless you have a lot of algea, dont get a lettus nudi. They only really eat bryopsis algea and maybe a little hair.
I would only get 5 to 10 hermits, a few turbos. If you can get nass then get a dozen to start.
you can add more as you need them. right now there prob is much in there to eat

I was told recently on these forums that an emerald crab needs A LOT of algae to eat, so they should really only be added to a tank that's been running for several months with a good build up of algae. We're pretty much at the same stage that you're at and we just added some blue leg hermits and turbos.

ok... forgive my ignorance on the subject, but I'm seeing terms like "cycling" and "clean up crew" here... our tank was becoming overrun with some thick brown algae, or at least what I assumed to be algae. I finally updated the lighting in the tank after doing some research and the new lighting killed the nasty stuff. my girlfriend and I did a water change monday evening at which point we scooped out as much of it as possible and everything looked good.
about two days ago, however, it started coming back but appears to be dying a bit, again. I have some turbo/astreas, nassariuses, and hermits on the way. they should be here sometime this morning. will they wipe this stuff out, or do you think this is rooted in a deeper problem?
any help is appreciated. thanks.
