im putting together an all-star clean up crew. here is what i have in my 29G tank: royal gramma, yellow-headed jawfish, milky leather, and lots of mushrooms, 25lbs lr, 60lbs ls. i know im going to get: 1 sand sifting star, 2 peppermint shrimp, and the duster cluster.
i think im getting: fighting conch, 10 scarlet hermits, and 10 blueleg hermits.
im not sure about the crabs, and trochus snails. Which ones do you feel are better for the crabs, sally lightfoot, emerald, coral banded. or should i get 1 of each?
how many trochus snails should i get? any certain number per gallon?
i know you guys will know!

Stay away from the blue leg crabs. Personally I would go with several different types of snails (Nassarius, cerith, trouchas, margarita) and only a few scarlet hermits. The sally or emerald are nice to have but just understand there are no 100% safe crabs. You take a chance with every one you put in your tank. I personally prefer the sally lightfoot as they are more active and mine has never bothered anything but it is still taking a chance having one. The CBS is more decorative than clean up but I have one and always like them even though people will tell you horror stories about them attacking everything (mine has never attacked anything). Are you a Hawkeye or a Cyclone? I was raised in CR IA but now live in Portland. Go Hawks

i am a hawkeye. thanks for the reply, i think i will add a few different types of snails, and a sally lightfoot. i am still going to get 10 scarlet hermits, because the lot of 10 is fairly cheap. i can always take some to the lfs if they are wreaking havoc. i think 5 trouchus snails will be enough with some other types too.
