Clean-up crew

I have finally gotten my nitrates down under 10 and will add the clean-up crew soon. I was wondering what it ideally should consist of? The tank is 40 gallon with 60 lbs of LR, which is from an older tank, plenty of coralline and pods. A few suggestions on the number of hermits and crabs would be appreciated,I have 10 turbo snails already, also I would like a star, which would be best?

I suggest starting with about 25 hermits. I like diversity to I suggest some scarlets, blue legs, and zebras. Add a few emerald crabs. Try some conchs and a few more snails. Get different types of snails too. Add a few snails at a time to achieve a good balance so not to starve them. I have a blue linkia star. He's great, but they do get a little big.

Thank you, that is what I'll do. How gradual will I need to add them, I wouldn't think it's like fish, but certialy 20 hermits, 2 peppermint shrimp, a few more snails, and the star would need to be done over, what, a month?

Are there any types of hermits that won't eat my star polyps on my live rock (I thinks thats what they are called)

I'd stay away from the large hermits. Just stick with the small ones like reg legs, blue legs, zebras.
