Cleaner Clam

I just got a cleaner clam from here yesterday, and i seem to be having an issue. It has not burried into the sand, or even moved since i placed it in the tank. Do you think it's dead?

Should i try to open it, or if it's ok, will that hurt it?

it should be super easy to open if its dead, just try to open it with your hands and if there is any strain to do so, its alive

I got 2 from here a few weeks ago. Neither one showed any signs of life for about a week, but I couldn't open them with my hands either so I left them in the tank. Finally they started opening just a little bit. Within the last few days they've been opening a lot, but never buried themselves. This morning one was dead, but I'm not sure why. They really seemed to finally be doing well.

I got cleaner clams from SWF about a month ago. When I put them in the tank, the buried themselves right away. I like to dig around and find them when I do my weekly water change, so that I can pull them out and make sure they are alive. I did not burp mine either - this site instructed drip aclimation, which I did. They are doing great - no nitrates!
