Cleaner shrimp antennas are shorter.

I just realized that all but 2 of my cleaners antennas are short. I know he had 4 very long ones and now only 2. Do they shorten with age or is this a sign of illness, or would something chew them off?

There are three possibilities that i could come up with.
1. they could have molted oddly due to an incorrectness in iodine or calcium levels.
2. they could have been nibbled on. However there are very VERY few fish that will prey on cleaners because of how beneficial they are. what are your tank inhabitants?

Probably no big deal nonetheless. They'll come back. Probably a bad molt like Ric maniac said. Change at least 10% of your water every two weeks or dose Seachem Iodide to compensate.

this is probably the first time I have disagreed with you in over a year. and its only half way
DONT DOSE IODINE
shrimp dont use it they expell it into their shell to expell it from their bodies.
ONLY dose iodine if your tank is below NSW levels (NSW=natural salt water)
waterchanges are good, shrimps will regrow stuff, as long as something isn't chewing it off.

And mine too, I guess

I probably should have clarified to test for iodine levels first...
