Cleaner shrimp life span

Ok, I'm arguing with a friend of mine...so lets hear from you guys.
Whats the longest you've ever had a scarlet skunk cleaner shrimp live? We have one that is 2 1/2, and thats where my friend is going nuts. He claims they won't live more than a year.

I've only had mine a few months but I am told they have a life span of 3 years in captivity.

I think it is 4-5 years total life span. But I don't know how much of that is as a larval stage or very small shrimp. Nor do we know how old they are when we get them. If he's 4 1/2 years when you get him he won't live long.
