Get a Blood Shrimp, easily the most attractive thing in my tank! ANY SHRIMP will be fine, even pistols, EXCEPT the mean Coral Banded's.

Despite this thread having one foot in the grave, I must ask:
I just bought a blood shrimp today and he's awesome (with the exception of the $36 price tag).
My flame angel won't leave him alone because he's dying to get cleaned up

I want to get a skunk cleaner, too, but in a 30 gallon tank, is there much of a chance that they wouldn't get along? There are plenty of nooks for each one to claim, but you never know if one will get greedy

Not to hijack the thread, but I humbly ask a question... about the meanness of coral bandeds... what if you already have one? Exactly how mean are they? I mean, are you just screwed, and they are going to go around murdering everyone?

I wouldn't really worry about a coral banded shrimp's compatibility with anything other than another coral banded shrimp... I see that they sell them on this site as one each or a mated pair, which usually means they're particular about their own type hanging around...

But DO NOT take my word as bond...
As you may notice, I'm one post above you asking a rather simple question

hehe. did you ask if fire shrimp and cleaner shrimp get along? (I am guessing that blood=fire shrimp and skunk=cleaner...?)
Well, in my own personal experience only, they get along perfectly well!

And thanks for answering :)
Because I already got a coral banded, and it freaks me out to think he may kill some of my cute fishies or harass or murder any members of my tank. Especially my pipefish. They both like to hang out in the same cave. Have had em both for about 6 months, but still... I am scared that one day, he will go postal

Coral banded shrimp have a very nasty reputation, and this is just. They will if not fed plentifully, and have plenty of space.....meaning PLENTY of space, eat, attack, and harrass any other member of the shrimp family. The tank is theirs, they are really territorial and will defend what they deem as theirs.
If you are not intending on putting any other shrimp in the tank you will be fine. They are not a fish killer, unless they do not get enough to eat, small slow moving fish may be a snack. But ultimately they are like the other shrimp, opportunist. They can be very entertaining.
But, like everything in saltwater......it really depends on the temperment of the coral banded. I have seen it co-exist with other shrimp, but it was a 300 gallon tank.

in my tank i have....
4 sexy shrimp
2 skunks
1 fire shrimp
1 tiger pistol shrimp
1 japanese pistol
1 randalli pistol
they all get along...
the sexy shrimp stay mainly in and around my 8 headed frogspawn...
Pistols stay mostly underground/caves... only visible when pushing sand around and coming up for their food.
At first when i added my fire shrimp .. anytime the skunks would get near its place... he would literally run em out of town.. chased them out.. quite funny to watch.. but now, about a year later, they all pretty much roam all over the tank with no probs...
as you can tell i love inverts... wish i was able to keep a coral banded shrimp as i think theyre really cool, but the risk is too great. Id probably lose all my shrimp.

I had a coral banded grab a coral cat (which are venomous) in mid swim and start eating it's face. CBS's may go after any other shrimp that you have. The one that I had used to go after my cleaners all of the time. The cleaners had the advantage of being able to swim in the water column. I would not trust a CBS anywhere near a pipefish.

You can post it on here in the classified section. Someone will want it, if priced right. Or, see if your LFS will take it back, not at full price I hope you realize, and maybe give you store credit, at least it will get a new home.

Back on topic of the original post, yes, you can pretty much have as many shrimps as the tank will hold........as long as you supplement their feeding. I use, believe it or not.... shrimp pellets. Oxymoran don't you think? They sink, so I can target the shrimp. I usually make sure the fish are busy with a nori sheet so as not to ambush the pellets. (My tangs are pigs)

Oh, I asked it incorrectly, how does one get a cbs out of a tank? mine hides all day and all you can see is his little whiskers once in a while. Do I like grab a pair of tongs or something? and pull him out by his whiskers?
