In theory. I've got two experiences with this sort of issue. One is with cleaner wrasse that went in and were eaten on the spot by a miniatus grouper. Another is with neon gobies and I seem to recall a few wrasse in with 2 goliath groupers, and several other very large grouper...and they are much appreciated. Its a blast watching 1" fish clean fish several feet larger.
So I would say it is real hit or miss...but they definitely can
be appreciated at times.

I've tried this without success. Most books claim that a cleaner wrasse is good to keep with epaullette sharks because they clean the parasites that are very common in their gills. I also read that the shark will not eat the wrasse because it knows how beneficial the wrasse is. The day I bought my shark, I took a cleaner wrasse home also. The wrasse got eaten the first night... I may try again one day but am not very optimistic about it. ***) ***)

Hi, we purchased a cleaner wrasse about 2 years ago and put him in our 125 with a full size v. lion fish. Everything went well...until a week ago. Now, we have no more cleaner wrasse and a full lionfish. So, I guess you could give it a shot. But, the first time that lionfish has hunger pains, the wrasse is definetely becoming dinner.
