Cleaning Glass on New Tank

hey everyone. i was wondering how to go about cleaning the glass on our new tank.
first off, we have no LR,LS, or saltwater in it as we are still working on the plumbing. the tank has been half full with idol water for about 1 week and its time to clean the inside and outside of the glass... i will do it with water in the tank and water out of the tank. what is the best way to do this. with what applicator and what liquid (water or some sort of oil) is best to use on the inside and outside of the tank. thanks for all of your help

Water and white vinegar seems to be the concensus. No soap or cleaning products on the inside but both are okay on the outside. If you need to scrape "gunk" off the glass, use a razorblade but wipe it off first as there is a little oil on the blade to prevent rusting.

Some use it some don't. If I were to use it I'd spray it on the cloth well away from the glass and not the glass itself. OR- you could use newspaper and scrub like crazy.

Vinagar is all you will need. Save the money, you will need it for other things in this hobby. Why spend $5 for a small bottle of cleaner, When you can get a huge jug of vinagar for about $2 bucks. Vinagar will clean almost anything that could be on or in the tank.. I would say anything, because I haven't seen it not work on anything yet. But I haven't had to clean everything....
I will even clean coral line alge that is built up and dryed up on powerheads, and heaters, Leaveing them looking like you just pulled them out of the box. Just dump the jug in the tank, and fill it the rest of the way with water. If there is some equipment you want to clean, then put that in there with it also. If there is a heavy build up then let it sit overnight. The next day it will come off very easily. Then just give everything a good rinsing. And vinagar won't leave a film on the equipment. And there isn't a chance that it will hurt anything in your tank.
