Cleaning Maxi-Jet impeller

I have a Maxi-jet 600 PH, 2nd hand, don't know how old it is or if its ever been cleaned, I've been using it for 4 months.
How do I open it and clean the impeller, and how often?

Turn the rotating head until the notches line up on the bottom, then just pop the cover off. I clean mine every few months.

... pull out the impeller and soak it in vinegar. I clean mine about once a month.

Yep :yes: and you can take a Q-tip and clean the housing that the impeller slips into.

Take the impeller apart too, that's where I have all my problems with these kinds of pumps.

It was easier to do than I thought, sure enough it was riddled with scum!
I'll keep it maintained from now on.
