Cleaning MH Bulbs

reefnut,
As long as the bulb is cool and you dry it well before turning it on, there shouldn't be a problem cleaning a MH bulb with a soft, moist cloth.
I have to ask though.....how is the bulb getting "dirty" in the first place? It should be far enough above the water surface to avoid getting splashed....or behind a protective glass cover. Right?

I use ro/di water and a tissue, when off at nite, they dry by morning, even though my bulbs are 10inch above the water, they sometimes get small droplets which as we all know leave a small deposit of salt:)

Well, they are not yet getting dirty. I was thinking evaporation would eventally get them dirty, is that not correct? It is not behind a protective glass and is mounted 8" above the water. Maybe it will not be a problem.

.I don't think evaporation would make them dirty but Plum's certainly right about those little droplets of water;)
