I just got my new 55 gallon tank last nigh...The lady said it had been sitting for a year and use to be a freshwater tank..What is safe to clean the inside and the outside..the filters hoods all that..

I would. If its been sitting for a while, it probably could do with a clean.
Id just use some warm soapy water and give it a thorough scrub. The warm water will help break down any grease, and the soap will remove any nasty bacteria that might be lingering.
The filters. Id just replace the filter media with new filters and give the filter a good cleaning too.
