Cleaning Plexi-glass

OK, I cut the plexi-glass overflow box out of my old tank and im trying to clean it up for the new tank. From what I understand, I should get all the old silicone off to ensure a good clean surface to silicone into the new tank. So far, im cleaning the old stuff off with a razor blade, but getting down to it, its a bit harder thank it seems. Apparently, the edges that touch the glass on the back are kind of rough, so its hard to just cleanly scrape away the old silicone. Any idea or tips on doing this? Is there any liquid I can use to help this process?
Thanks again
Neil

Well, Ok, I need, a sheet of Plexi, table saw, Dremel (or the table saw to make the teeth at the top). How do I go about bending the plexi?

a strip heater is good bu a steady hand and a torch rork just as well.
as far as the cuts go I would spend 12 bucks on a plastic kut from home depot. much cleaner cuts

ahhh, makes sense. Are there any other methods for bending other than that? I would rather not have to buy something I'm probably not going to use again.

plastic kut is a saw blade im guessing?
its interesting, every time things seem to be going well, I hit another challange. I have to say though, its making me totally fall in love with the final outcome of what im building.

Its a blade that fits into a fat max utility knife I use it every day at work for plexi and it is still tried and true

If you dont plan on using the tool again, Id suggest farming the work out to a shop unless you have a torch handy.
