cleaning power heads

should i use straight vinegar to clean my pumps/powerheads, or a mixture of water and vinegar?

Until the encrusted coralline come off easily with a scrub brush of some sort. (new not used )
Usually around 1/2-1 hour depending on how dirty.

oh i thought i was supposed to be cleaning the insides! i have never heard of cleaning my pumps til the other day i have had ph's for over 2 years without cleaning
im doing that one right now lol!!!

LOL...Clean the whole thing......might as well clean the outer parts cause the coraline is gonna die when you put it in the vinegar water anyway
I haev a few that probably need cleaning too.....maybe next weekend LOL

i have been cleaning my PHs with hot tap water and scrubbing the HA off. It seems to work fine so far. The coraline that is on them wont come off and I am not sure if its a big deal that its on there. Is it?

NO, it won't hurt anything...it will just turn white cause it will die
and when pray tell will it turn white? there are a few spots that have been through this hot FW bath and they are still growing.
