Cleaning shrimp

Hi. I just had my cleaning shrimp to die all of a sudden. It was doing fine this morning it came out and ate and acted normal. I know it molted (I'm not sure if this is the right word for it) this morning and then I got home and it was dead. Does anyone know what might've caused this, everything else is acting normal
brittle starfish, 2 peppermint shrimp, 10 blue legged crabs, flaming scallop, lawnmower blenny and some snails.
I've had the cleaning shrimp for about 2 week's and never had a problem with it.
pH is 8.2
ammonia is 0.25
nitrate is 20
I know our nitrate is a little high were doing what we can to lower it but so far it's staying at 20. Thanks in advance

Thanks for the reply, but our ammonia has been this for sometime now, we just did a 5 gallon water change but we could do more if needed. The lfs said this wasn't to bad. Do you really think that could've been what killed our shrimp? We are still new to this so we really don't know. All we can do is what the lfs or this message board tells us and so far I don't really rely on the lfs. (they've been known to give us very bad advice) By the way our tank is a 29 gallon.

Did you do the water change before or after the cleaner shrimp died?
Many shrimp will molt in there first week or so in the new tank, at this point they are vulnerable until the shell harddens again.
What test kit are you using to measure ammonia?
What is your salinity at?

the salinity is at 28
the test kit is SALTWATER MASTER Liquid Test Kit
from AQUARIUM PHARMACEUTICALS, INC.
IM LEANING TOWARD SOMETHING PICKING AT HIM, HE WAS ALWAYS FIGHTING WITH THE PEPPERMINT SHRIMP. MAYBE THEY HAD ENOUGH

ALMOST FORGOT THE WATER CHANGE WAS DONE BEFORE IT DIED, AND THIS WAS HIS SECOND TIME TO MOLT SINCE BEING IN THE TANK

well maybe he just up and died? if everything is still doing fine, then maybe he just ate something that he shouldnt have or gotten into a fight and lost? it might have been just his time to go.
if there everything plossible was exhasted then the only thing left is the implossible
but thats my $.02
