I have noticed alot of talk about vacuuming out the bed sand. Do you really think this is necassary? Doesn't it disturb the bacteria balance? If there are large quantity of biological creepers isnt vacuuming just a waste of time?

You are correct that it is not very beneficial to regularly vacuum your sandbed as there is plentiful and necessary life that needs to remain in the sand. However, I have vacuumed mine lightly from time to time when debris lays there from moving rocks around and what not. I just skim the surface though, and I try to barely get any sand if possible. A good cleanup crew should keep the bed presentable most of the time. I would never strongly vacuum my sandbed or go above the surface.
