what kind of cleanup crew is recommended for a 55 gallon with 35 pds of lr and cc. the tank is 2 months old and all the levels are okay, which i will be checking again today to confirm.

would you recommend one of the reef packages from this sight, is that basically what i am looking for? i looked at the 55 gallon package and that is a lot of stuff to add.

After your tank is cycled how long should you wait to add a cleanup crew? Shouldn't this be the first thing you add to the tank?

once the tank has cycled and all levels have gone to normal eg. ph, salinity, temp, ammonia, nitarite, nitarit (sp)
wait two weeks see how things do and then go ahead and slowly begin to add the cleanup crew

I need help too, i was on my own impression of just doing a FOWLR set up on my 75 gallon considering im making a move in the next year so i dont wanna get too much involved in the tank i.e. a reef set up....but my question is where do i find a good package for a clean up crew for a FOWLR set up??? most ive seen are geared towards total reef set ups....i have a 6 inch coral banded shrimp and a 4 in turbo snail...i know i need more but how much more??

for the 75g guy
id say
20 blue leg hermits
20 red leg hermits
20 mexican turbos
20 nass snails
and you could even go with a few cleaner shrimp

would it be about the same for the 55 gallon and will this affect the amount of fish i can have ?

I will also start with a FOWLR setup. Does the reef package on this site apply to a FOWLR setup as well or are there some special inverts in the package that need a reef setup?

IMO Packages from any site have WAY too many critters than anyone needs & a lot of them will probably end up starving. You really just need to take a look at what condition your tank is in. If you aren't really having any algae problems and your tank is pretty clean, you don't need much. Start off slow with like 10 astreas and 10 hermit crabs...see how they do. If you find you need more...add more. As you add fish etc and there is more waste being produced...add more. Every one I have talked to says just to add critters on an as needed basis. If you start having a specific problem ask your LFS and then they can recommend what is the best critter for it.

the only thing im concerned with is over crowding.......i have a 5in. foxface lo, 5 in. red general starfish( who went through some amazing tough times and has survived very well pretty awesome in my book) 2 in. blue hippo, 4 in. percula, 3-4 in turbo snail, and the coral banded, oh and a 2 in diamond goby(not sand sifting very well maybe too young?) lil help on that as well :help:
i only have a slight brown diatom problem, usually shows up moderately before a due water change, im worried about them starving if i get too many....otherwise the brown doesnt show up at all.........and another question....i have flourescent green patches showing up on my decorations especially on the real dead cats paw. ive heard this is a great thing means its curing or something close to "curing" is this true? :needhelp:

just picked up 10 red legged crabs, 1 huge turbo, and 5 astrea, i think that'll be enough for now, they are all over the place...
so in total:
10 red legged crabs
2 huge turbos
5 astrea
these lil guys are already improving tremendously, its amazing how well they are doing this in such a large tank
