Clear Area On Yellow Tang

I recently got a yellow tang form a very reputable dealer ( about 6 days ago). The lighting they had in the tank with the tang at the store was just regular plain flourescent lighting. I noticed when i got home that he had a clear area near the top of body around the exterior of his top fin. he acts perfectly normal. he also has lightnened color around his gills. is this also normal. i have a very good book ( the conscious marine aquarist! very good!) but could not find anything on this. ivealways assumed it was normal because he has normal behavior. He got black ich about 3 days after i had him in my tank but i quickly treated it with a fresh water dip.
Any response would be great!
Thanks! :D

I doubt if a single FW dip is going to get rid of all the black spot. I would make sure that this fish has all of his nutritional needs met, which includes almost non-stop grazing opportunities, get a good green vegetable died going and add Zoe and Zoecon to its food. Keep an eye on the discoloration.
With a fish that has or just had parasites, you can't expect peak color and looks.

beth, i think the single dip workd. didnt see a single spot after or in the last 2 days. he eats amazing, i feed hime brine with zoecon, sirulina enriched pellets and i always have purple seaweed on a letuce clip. i also have LOTS of bubble and hair algae and it seams that he really likes the red algae growing in my tank. he is very active and is gaining some more color around the fin area!
Thanks!
ps- i also plan to get some nori. heard that the fish love it!
