The last 3 mornings I have been having a clicking sound coming from my tank, I have no idea what is causing the sound.
Tank Contains:
2 Peppermint Shrimp
1 Banded Shrimp
1 Porcelain Crab
1 Emerald Crab
Various Coral and fish.
Any ideas?
Thanks Ron

Mantis shrimp. Just keep inventory and when you notice stuff coming up missing, then you'll know for sure.

You could do a search on mantis shrimp to read some past threads on them. Like the above said it is probably either a mantis shrimp or pistol shrimp. I hope it isn't the mantis.

The tank has been setup since Dec, 02 with no new live rock since Jan 03, I have added a few corals but really don't see how a mantis or pistol shrimp could just show up in the last three days. Could this thing stay hidden this long?

For the most part, the one I found was 1" long so it was just a baby. Just look for a weird paie of eyes...

I've been hearing clicking for months and still have not seen a pistol or mantis. But, something caused my mandarin to jump out and they are not known to be jumpers and something keeps eating the tips of my brittles arms and my hermits.
Try to be patient, hopefully you'll find it for an ID.Good luck.

Have a clownfish? Some of them click. I heard my tomato clicking for the first time the other day (had it for over a year now), and I swear it sounded like something was tapping on the glass. But I watched his jaw pop to make the noise. If I didn't see it happen, I would think mantis or pistol too.
Could be those, but not necessarily.
