clicking sound

i keep hearing this dang clicking sound inside my tank and it's bugging me! What the heck is it?

it could be a mantis shrimp, i have never had one, but heard that they make clicking noises

Here's a picture of one: If you have one, you can either keep it by itself in a different tank or get rid of it, because mantis shrimp are quick and have been known to kill fish.

if it is a mantis, it will eat your inhabitants

Let's start with the basics. What stock is in the tank? List off the contents.
There are more possibilities than mantis shrimp - pistol shrimp for one, even some clownfish can pop very loudly with their mouths.

Do you have any scallops ? My Scallop makes a loud clicking sound each night when the light go off.

1 ocillerus clown
2 peppermint shrimp
1 fire shrimp
3 scarlets
2 bluelegs
1 electric hermit
2 astrea snails

Lots of fish for the mantis to eat.

Are the clicking rapid or just every now and then? If they are rapid then it will most likley be a mantis if they are every now and then it may be a pistal shrimp.

I had a crapy power head that used to make clicking nioses, it made me go crazy

I also have a powerhead that does that. It sucks watching TV and you hear click,click,click every 10 minutes.

why dont u take a mayo jar lay it at an angle against your rock and put a chunk of shrimp in it at lights out and see if u cant catch this sucker,
