sorry meowser had to do it.i would go to NY before philli.but cliff played for philli and took them to the world series where they lost to the yanks.he has said he always liked it there.i just do understand why he would go back to the place were they traded him for less money.
i am sure he had his reasons.i am just happy to see an athlete turn down money for anyreason .i think he lost around 30 million going there.
most of the fans here on the radio understand.i think alot of the fans here would have been pissed if he went to NY

I remember when he was in Cleveland he lived pretty far out of town. I also know he loves hunting and nature in general. So my guess is that Philladelphia was a little easier to find a home out in the country and still not be too far from the stadium. That's a lot tougher in NYC metro area...

How is going from NY to Philli a quality of life decision?
Don't know about quality of life, but a big reason is because Philly has the best (arguably I suppose) Children's Hospitals in the world CHOP (Children's Hospital of Philly) and Lee has a kid in remission from Leukemia. I suspect that had a lot to do with it.

His wife was treated very rudely by some Yankee fans the story goes and she had much to do with his decision. it is also reported that he was very disappointed when traded to Seattle from Philly because he wanted to pitch with Halladay. In addition, he loves to hit and this was only NL team that had some interest at his price level.

I wouldn't want to live either place but from what I've seen of the fans Philly is the last place I'd want to play.

Then if you were Cliff Lee or Roy Halladay you would not have taken less years and money (Lee) and taken less money and removed your no trade clause(Halladay) to play at Citizen bank Park.

Well if you're on CRACK... Honestly, that is going to be a KILLER rotation. Something that imo might put the 90's braves to shame. Which is what I think weighed into it.

You could say that, but are you really going to have a sick kid go from Arkansas to Philli, when you have major Children Hospitals in the DFW area and Houston....

It just hurts, he didn't like the Rangers... And would rather play in philly. (He probably remembered the 102 degree tempuratures at game time... )

I can honestly say that at no time in my adult life would I move to either of those cities for more money. Material things have never been that important to me. Laid back lifestyle and shooting and fishing are what really matters in life.

After visiting Arkansas, I would love to live in an environment like Hot Springs. I hate daily traffic and having to drive 50 miles just to get to school

You're obviously not a parent...If you had a kid with Leukemia and were worth 100 million dollars, you would take him anywhere they have the best facilities.

Nah, I'm just saying their are major nationally aclaimed hospitals in the DFW and Houston area too. But I have no actual knowledge of his kids health situation. But you may have a point, I forget that the teams have their own medicial staffs, and they probably work in the philly area to begin with. Continuity of treatment would be important. So is being comfortable with your doctor.
