This is the far right of my 125 gallon reef. The tank gets some natural light that moves from left to right as the sun moves across in front of the window. It really shows how bright natural light is compared to my VHO lighting. In the winter when the sun is lower in the sky the whole tank gets natural light for about 2 hours a day.

Do you ever have any algae problems? Also how long have you had that xenia? I got mine 2 or 3 days ago and it looks alot like yours but doesn't pulse all that much. It was pulsing like crazy at the store and also had thicker stalks. Just tyrying to figure out if it is light related.

When I moved the reef from my 90 gallon I had a slight algae problem on the sand that cleared up as the tank adjusted. When I added the yellow tang I experienced another slight algae bloom on the sand but that cleared up after about a week or two once the tank once again adjusted to the increased bioload. I have enough algae eaters to keep any algae in check without a refugium or DSB.
This is a full shot of the tank. My type of xenia are non pulsating and they have tripled in size in the last year. Xenia do like lots of light and I am sure if had more light than what I have then the xenia would have spread like crazy by now.

I have never really had a temp issue since in the winter it gets darn cold and the house usually stays aroud 68 degrees and in the summer the sun is so high up in the sky that the tank barely gets any. In the winter I actually run a fan to try and blow some of the hot air out of the canopy into the house. I really like the xenia but it will spread like wild fire if it gets lots of light and lots of nutrients. I have heard that if you have lots of light then you will want to add iodine to really get the xenia going. I have pretty mild lighting so mine really don't spread, and I don't add iodine either. Mine where given to me about a year and half ago at about a third of their current size and seem to be doing just fine.
